Revived Red rolls over Gold

The new and improved Red rolled to a convincing 6-1 win over Gold Friday behind the offensive efforts of Rusty G (3 goals), RA L (2) and John B (1,3) and the stingy netminding of Goalie Boomer.

Red took a quick 3-0 lead before Gold’s John D was able to break through and go into the first intermission down 3-1. Red got 2 in the second and one in the third, and Boomer did the rest, holding off several waves of solid Gold scoring chances. A frustrated Gold coach Pat even loaded the lineup and pulled the goalie, uttering words not suitable for a family blog, to no avail.

Play of the Game honors go to Bob M, who made a sparkling open-field tackle on John B to prevent a breakaway and keep Gold within 5 late in the third. “It was the right play,” said Bob–who not surprisingly now leads the league in PIM by a wide margin.

On a somber note, it was noted that Bob Beattie’s sister passed away recently. The league and everyone in it send their condolences to Bob and his family.
