Green closes season in style: snatches WOAT in last minute, completes undefeated bar run

The 2018-19 CDMHC season ended with unexpected excitement, as Green gave up two third period goals–the last with just 20 seconds to play, by a player with exactly zero goals on the season–to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and claim the title of WOAT. Pete S, flush from his successful GEICO commercial, finished a 3-on-1 after an untimely Green defensive change for his first goal of the year to flush Green’s hopes. Green carried a 4-3 lead behind newcomer Ron M–better known to many as Junior–who had 2 goals and a helper. Tim C and Dan S also scored, and JD D (1,2), Ralph M and Pat M kept Red close until Pat K tied it, followed by Pete’s Schuur thing. Score Sheet – Red v Green 3-6-19

As always, Green celebrated on-ice defeat in style, once again taking honors at Kennedy’s to complete an undefeated season at the bar.

And thus ends another eventful CDMHC campaign. But the fun doesn’t stop here. Don’t miss the annual banquet, featuring the Fudgie Awards, this Sunday at the Hanger from 2-4 pm. As they say about that other Masters, it’s a tradition unlike any other.
